The Ikoni Ortix, the first shoe Shaped by Ortix, is built from a growing database of over 1.5 million 3D scans taken from runners’ feet. As a result, the Ikoni provides a custom like fit straight out of the box!
Karhu analyzed the scan data and developed an all new upper to improve the fit and performance. Now, the upper features seamlessly engineered Ideal Knit mesh with zones constructed for breathability. The 3D scans show a lacing system can provide better support by incorporating an anatomical design. By utilizing an upper pattern that follows the contour of the foot, the runner is better aligned within the shoe. It might look unique when peering down at your feet, but the comfort will be appreciated.
In spring 2020, Karhu introduced HiVo (a high volume version) of the Ikoni to account for feet with higher insteps, greater forefoot girths, and common problems like bunions, calluses, and corns. Using the aggregate scan data supplied from retail partner, Fleet Feet, Karhu constructs a running shoe that accounts for noted differences in data points. The data analysis reveals runners don’t necessarily require a shoe that is simply wider, but one that can accommodate for unique foot characteristics. Thus, the HiVo version provides additional room for the foot to transition naturally and this fall Karhu expands the category with seasonal colour options in addition to black/white.
