The New Balance 940 replaces the 850 and continues to provide support for low to flat arches. The straight shape also aids in stability and provides a great fit for a low arch or flat foot. There is also plenty of heel cushioning to keep you running comfortably for miles.

The New Balance 940 is a maximum featured shoe designed for moderate to severe overpronators. This everyday training shoe has a high volume toebox that will accommodate orthotics well. The 940 is built on the SL-1 last which is designed to provide optimal stability for runners with flat and flexible feet. The shoe has a semi-straight shape.

CUSHIONING

• ABZORB SBS is located in the heel and forefoot. ABZORB SBS is a non-cellular elastomer that absorbs shock and does not break down.

• ABZORB DTS is located in the heel and near the sole of the shoe. ABZORB DTS absorbs impact forces and smooths out the heel strike.

MIDSOLE

• Acteva is a full length midsole material that is 12% lighter than standard midsole foam with DuPont Engage for added durability.

• STABILITY WEB is located in the midfoot at the bottom of the midsole. The STABILITY WEB minimizes flex and provides lightweight support.

• Stabilicore is a medial support system that provides an extremely smooth transition from heel strike to toe-off. Stabilicore offers a continuous range of stiffness for optimal transition.

UPPER

• Synthetic/Mesh Upper covers most of the upper and is designed for moisture management.

• PHANTOM LINER is located along the inside of the upper. The PHANTOM LINER provides a seamless liner next to the foot to minimize points of irritation.

• NLOCK is located on the external midfoot of the upper. NLOCK secures the midfoot and deliver a performance fit.

• Lightning Dry is utilized in the interior of the upper and is a moisture managing fabric.

• Dual Density Collar Foam is located in the heel and helps secure the heel in place and provides comfort.
